posted July 27, 2011 Scotsman CU50 - Just As Brilliant
Scotsman has recently released their Brilliance line of residential ice machines. These machines are in fact brilliant, but the Scotsman SCCP50/SCCG50 Brilliance residential gourmet ice machine has many similarities to its commercial counterpart (Scotsman CU50PA/CU50GA).
Looking at the models side by side, the main difference between the two machines is the door style. The CU50 has a door handle located along the top of the door, while the door handle on the Brilliance model has the handle running down the length of the left side of the door.
The Scotsman SCCP50/SCCG50 Brilliance models are great for home use. While the CU50 undercounter ice maker is designed for commercial applications, it can still be used at one's home or office. The CU50 and SCCP50/SCCG50 produce and store the same amount of ice and are nearly identical in physical size.
There are some obvious decor advantages with the SCCP50/SCCG50 models. They are also available in 3 different finishes: black, white, and stainless steel. However, if you are looking for a machine with a stainless steel finish, the CU50 is a great alternative option to go with.
Since it is a Scotsman commercial model, it is built to make ice at commercial quality, which means reliability.
The one big advantage the CU50 has over the SCCP50/SCCG50 is the price. Each of the versions of the CU50 is typically $200-$300 cheaper than its comparable stainless steel residential counterpart.
The Scotsman CU50 is also ENERGY STAR Qualified, which could save you money on utility bills over the long term. At IceMachinesPlus.com, we have the CU50 models stocked and ready to ship out, so pick up one for your home or office today.
